NYU Dentistry to Offer New Joint MBA Degree Program

Dentist at Shel Dental in Norwalk, Connecticut, Doctor Avi Malkis also treats patients at Oakwood Dental Arts in Staten Island. Doctor Avi Malkis holds a DDS from the New York University College of Dentistry, which this year announced a new degree in conjunction with the NYU Stern School of Business.

The NYU College of Dentistry and the Stern School of Business announced a new joint DDS/MBA program. The new program addresses the increasing need for dentists to understand the business side of dental care.

Students can complete the joint degree program in five years, with the first two years focused on full-time dental course work. The third year of the program allows students to enroll in core MBA courses while still working on clinical skills, at the NYU College of Dentistry, eight hours a week. Students have the flexibility to spend their final two years of the program adjusting their clinical practice schedule as need be to accommodate their remaining MBA courses.

Now with a grasp on the business side of health care, graduates will be better equipped to operate efficient dental practices and potentially provide more affordable patient care.
